EPDM wet pour is generally more expensive than standard interlocking rubber tiles due to the specialist labour and on-site mixing process involved, though the exact comparison depends heavily on design complexity. However, wet pour offers a genuinely seamless surface and unlimited custom design capability that modular tiles cannot match, which is why many premium school and public playground projects specifically choose wet pour despite the higher relative cost.

Request the manufacturer’s technical data sheet confirming the wear course material is genuine EPDM compound, not recycled SBR dyed to appear colourful. You can also request a physical sample and compare its colour vibrancy and texture to known EPDM products, or ask for UV exposure test data. Genuine EPDM commands a price premium over dyed SBR, so an unusually low quote for a “coloured EPDM” surface often indicates a substitute material is being used.
